Every employer with screen-based staff has duties under the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992: analyse workstations, reduce risks, plan work breaks and provide eye tests on request. Someone has to do that analysing competently, and this course trains the in-house DSE assessors who carry the duty day to day, in offices and, since hybrid working became normal, in home workstations too.
The course covers the health problems poor workstations cause, from musculoskeletal disorders to visual fatigue and stress; the regulations and who counts as a DSE user; and the practical assessment craft: chair, desk, screen, keyboard and mouse setup, laptops and docking, lighting and glare, and the conversation with the user that surfaces problems a checklist misses. Delegates practise real assessments and leave able to run a competent DSE programme, including homeworker assessments done remotely.
