CITB Director's Role for Health and Safety is run on demand — tell us when you'd like to attend and where, and we'll arrange a date and venue that works for you. Single delegates and group bookings both welcome.
The CITB Director's Role for Health and Safety course is a 1-day course for company directors and senior managers who hold a strategic health and safety role in construction and the built environment. It is part of the CITB Site Safety Plus scheme and looks at health and safety from the boardroom rather than the site, complementing the site-level SMSTS and SSSTS courses.
The course helps directors recognise their duty of care and the implications of failing to comply with health and safety legislation. It looks at how leadership shapes an organisation, and how directors can promote a positive health and safety culture from the top down. Group exercises through the day give delegates the chance to discuss their responsibilities and share experience in an open forum.
There is a pre-course eLearning module that must be completed before attending. Successful completion generates a digital certificate, a copy of which is sent to the training provider at least 24 hours before the main course begins.
Directors and senior managers who want deeper health and safety knowledge often go on to IOSH Managing Safely or the NEBOSH General Certificate.
The certificate is valid for 5 years, and delegates complete the full course again to renew it.
