The IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management is the recognised entry qualification for environmental and sustainability responsibility at work, awarded under IEMA, the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment. It suits the growing band of people handed the environment as part of their role: site and facilities managers, quality and compliance staff, and anyone feeding corporate sustainability commitments that now flow down supply chains.
The course covers the ground a working environmental role needs: the major environmental issues from climate change and resource depletion to pollution and biodiversity; how UK and international environmental law works, from permits and duty of care for waste to enforcement; environmental management systems and the ISO 14001 approach of aspects, impacts and continual improvement; and the practical toolkit of audits, monitoring and performance reporting.
