The NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Waterproof Membrane Roofing Systems is the qualification that proves you are a competent flat roofer, and it is the route to the CSCS Blue Skilled Worker card. An NVQ is competence-based: instead of sitting exams, you demonstrate that you can already do the job, assessed against national standards from your own workplace. The whole qualification is completed remotely.

It is aimed at roofers installing waterproof membrane systems: single ply, reinforced bitumen membranes, liquid applied systems and hot melt. If you prepare substrates, install membranes and form details day in day out but have no formal qualification, this NVQ turns that experience into the card nearly every main contractor now asks for.

This NVQ is awarded by ProQual and regulated by Ofqual (qualification number 603/0449/2). It is made up of core units that everyone completes, covering health and safety, working efficiently and handling materials, plus units matched to the membrane systems you install.
