How NVQs work

NVQs are competence-based qualifications, not classroom courses. You build a portfolio of evidence from real work you do on site, supported by a dedicated assessor throughout. The whole qualification is completed remotely, with no need for an assessor to visit you.

There are no exams. You are assessed on what you can actually do in your job, against the units of the qualification. Once complete, you receive a certificate from ProQual that is recognised across the UK construction industry.
