EUSR SHEA Power

SHEA Power is the safety passport for the UK electricity networks. Run by EUSR, the Energy and Utility Skills Register, it is required by distribution and transmission network operators and their contractors before people work on or near their assets, from overhead line and cabling crews to substation civils and excavation teams.

The course pairs the SHEA core, the safety, health and environmental awareness content shared across the utility passports, with the electrical content specific to power networks: how electricity injures and kills, safe approach distances to overhead lines and underground cables, induced voltages, working around substations and live plant, and the permits and controls that make work on an operational network safe. On passing, your registration is recorded with EUSR for network clients to verify.

Power teams breaking ground pair the passport with safe digging competence from the EUSR CAT 1 and 2 course and CAT and Genny training, since striking a buried cable is precisely the incident the whole system exists to prevent.
