Overview

SHEA Telecom is the safety passport for the UK telecommunications networks, run by EUSR, the Energy and Utility Skills Register. Network owners and their contractors require it before people work on their infrastructure, and the fibre build-out has made it one of the most in-demand utility passports: civils crews, cablers, jointers, pole and duct teams all need it for network access.

The course combines the SHEA core, the safety, health and environmental content shared across the utility passports, with telecom-specific hazards: streetworks and working in the public highway, safe excavation around existing utilities, chambers, ducts and poles, working at height on the overhead network, and the particular risk of striking other networks' buried plant, electricity and gas above all, while installing telecom infrastructure. On passing, your registration is recorded with EUSR for clients to verify.

Because telecom civils work is digging work, the passport pairs naturally with the EUSR CAT 1 and 2 course and CAT and Genny training. The parallel passports for other sectors are SHEA Gas and SHEA Power. Browse the range under utilities training.
