The Level 5 Diploma in Fire Risk Assessment is the advanced practitioner qualification at the top of the fire risk assessment ladder. It recognises assessors who handle the most demanding premises and carry professional responsibility for fire safety judgements at the highest level.
It is aimed at senior practitioners: consultants leading fire risk work on high risk and complex buildings, principal assessors in consultancies and large organisations, and professionals seeking the strongest regulated evidence for advanced registration and senior appointments.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, and equivalent law in Scotland and Northern Ireland, nearly every non-domestic building must have a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment, and the Building Safety Act has sharpened the expectation that the person doing it is demonstrably competent. Regulated qualifications are how assessors prove that competence.
This Diploma is awarded by ProQual, an Ofqual-regulated awarding organisation. Assessment is remote: a substantial portfolio of advanced assessment work, defended through professional discussion with your assessor, with no exams.
The Level 4 qualification is the step before this, and the Level 5 Award offers a focused alternative at the same level. Senior safety professionals may also hold the Level 6 Occupational Health and Safety Practice NVQ. You can also browse the full range of qualifications.
