The Level 5 Award in Fire Risk Assessment recognises advanced fire risk assessment practice. It is for experienced assessors who take on demanding premises and want a regulated qualification at the top of the ladder to prove it.
It is aimed at established practitioners: consultants assessing high risk and unusual buildings, senior in-house assessors setting standards across estates, and professionals working towards or maintaining recognition at the advanced level.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, and equivalent law in Scotland and Northern Ireland, nearly every non-domestic building must have a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment, and the Building Safety Act has sharpened the expectation that the person doing it is demonstrably competent. Regulated qualifications are how assessors prove that competence.
This Award is awarded by ProQual, an Ofqual-regulated awarding organisation. Assessment is remote: you evidence advanced assessment work and defend your professional judgement in discussion with your assessor, with no exams.
The Level 5 Diploma in Fire Risk Assessment is the fuller advanced qualification at this level; the Award suits practitioners evidencing a focused body of advanced work. Earlier rungs are the Level 4 and Level 3 qualifications. You can also browse the full range of qualifications.
