The Level 5 Management and Leadership qualification is for practising managers: people who lead teams, projects, budgets and operations day to day. It is competence-based: you prove what you already do as a manager, assessed against national standards from your own workplace, with no exams. The whole qualification is completed remotely.
It is aimed at operations managers, contracts managers, department heads and senior supervisors stepping up: people who plan and manage resources, lead and develop people, manage performance, and take responsibility for delivery. If that is your job, this qualification turns it into recognised management credentials.
This qualification is awarded by ProQual, an Ofqual-regulated awarding organisation. It covers leading people and teams, planning and managing operations, managing budgets and resources, and driving improvement, evidenced from the management work you already do.
Assessment is by portfolio and professional discussion with your assessor, all remote: management records, plans, reports and reviews from your real role, not assignments invented for the course.
In construction, managers often pair this with the Level 4 Site Supervisor NVQ or progress to the Level 6 Site Management NVQ and the Level 6 Contracting Operations Manager NVQ, which lead to the CSCS Black Manager card. Inspection focused professionals should look at the Level 6 Senior Site Inspection qualification. You can also browse the full range of qualifications.
